Information on Budgerigars

The budgerigar (nicknamed budgie) is a small parrot.
It belongs to the tribe of the wide tailed parrots.
The budgerigar is found in most parts of Australia.

Budgerigars often kept as pets because of the ability to mimic human speech, low cost, small size and playful nature.

It its easy to tell a boy  budgerigar from a girl budgerigar. The boy budgerigar has a blue cere (the colored bit above its beak) and the female has a brown cere.
This budgie has a blue cere so it is a male!
